Audio Technician
Full-time Contract (Montréal)
The Role
Beyond Capture has a fully soundproof volume, where we are able to record high quality audio that can be delivered ready for final implementation (game engine, cinematic, timelines, etc). The audio tech is in charge of recording all on-set performances, delivering them to clients, and overseeing the studio’s audio system and integration with the capture system.
General Duties and Responsibilities

Planning and creating recording templates to meet our clients’ specifications; using either Cockos’ Reaper or Avid’s Pro Tools.

Preparing highly detailed cue sheets that include all relevant information for each session: scripts, stage indications, director’s notes, detailed cue count, etc.

Operating all the audio equipment used at the studio. (Wireless lav systems, multiple audio interfaces, and mixers, audio computers with different operating systems, time-code generators)

Maintaining and upgrading the studio’s audio equipment to keep our constantly evolving studio technology and workflow; as well as all professional industry standards.

Managing all the data recorded on every shoot and preparing it to deliver it to clients’ specifications. Including batch naming, editing, de-noising (or any other clean-up process requested), rendering, organizing and creating detailed folder hierarchies.

Coordinating with directors and producers to create recording schedules and gather the necessary material needed for each shoot (scripts, motion/cue lists, reference audio/video files) and include said materials into the shooting schedule.

Location
Montréal, QC: Must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience and Requirements
-
At least 4 years experience in post-production for audio, or film/TV on-set environment.

Highly proficient with Reaper and Pro Tools DAWs.

Proficient in recording, mixing, and editing dialog for film and video games.

Highly proficient in file managing. Cataloging and organizing large amounts of files for easy access and retrieval.

Experience in setting up, adapting, and troubleshooting custom signal flow setups.

Good teamwork skills to integrate with a multi-disciplinary environment and workflow.

Excellent communication skills in order to be the point of contact to clients and cater to their technical specifications and establish a good flow of information between studio clients.
